What is Wave Browser? 10 Ways to Remove it (Windows, Mac)?

A Wave Browser is basically categorized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that can intrude into your computer and can make changes to your existing internet browsers and can operate your search engine beyond your control.

Friends, I also encountered the instance of the Wave Browser getting installed on my system which I was able to remove by uninstalling the Wave Browser App. At this point in time, I take this opportunity to share herewith a quick user guide that showcases a number of ways of removing Wave Browser from your system.

Uninstalling the Wave Browser App

Step 1 - Just begin by opening Control Panel.

Step 2 - Now go to the “Programs” section and click on “Uninstall a Program”.

Step 3 - Just continue by choosing the Wave Browser and uninstall it carefully.

By Using an Antimalware in the form of MalwareBytes

Malwarebytes happens to be an effective PUP removing tool that can easily remove Wave Browser from your system.

Step 1 - Just open the homepage of Malware Bytes followed by clicking on “Free Download”.

Step 2 - When the executable file gets downloaded on your system you have to open it by giving a simple click on it.

Step3 - To initiate the installation process just click on “Install” followed by clicking on “Next”.

Step 4 - Then just press the “Done” button to finish the installation process.

Step 5 - Now prefer scanning the system using Malwarebytes to remove Wave Browser from your system by granting the removal permission once it is sought after scanning.

Extinguishing the Relevant Processes Linked to the Wave Browser 

There may be a fair chance that even after removing the Wave Browser some core elements of it may be present on your system. In such a case you need to remove the inter-connected processes for removing the ill effects of Wave Browser.

Step 1 - Just open the task manager by pressing the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC keys together.

Step 2 - Try to identify the processes that may appear in the name of Polarity, Wavesor, and the likes followed by ending the task of the same.

By Disabling the Wave Browser from Startup

Step 1 - Go to the Task Manager followed by clicking on the “Startup”.

Step 2 - Now switch to clicking on different programs like Polarity, Wavesor, and the likes followed by clicking on the Disable button displayed on the bottom right corner of the screen.  

By Deleting All Scheduled Tasks

Step 1 - Open the “Task Scheduler” from the “Start Menu”.

Step 2 - Navigate the new window that gets opened to find if there are any scheduled tasks pertaining to your Wave Browser.

Step 3 - If you find any pending tasks related to Wave Browser just delete them.

By Doing Away with Registry Keys Pertaining to the Wave Browser

Step 1 - On the Start Menu just search for regedit.exe followed by clicking on the “Edit” option for your Registry Editor.

Step 2 - Just continue by clicking on “Find” followed by typing in “Wave Browser” and clicking on the “Find Next”.

Step 3 - Find all the registries that are related to the Wave Browser, just continue by selecting each one of them followed by right-clicking on the same to select the “Disable” option.

By Removing the Leftover Files of Wave Browser

Step 1 - Just initiate by choosing the “Drive” in which the Windows is installed followed by clicking on the “Users” folder.

Step 2 - Identify all files and folders related to Wave Browser like Wave Browser, Polarity, Wavesor, and the likes.

Step 3 - Select all such folders and delete them permanently.

By Removing the Defaults from Wave Browser

Step 1 - When you are in the Settings window just click on Apps.

Step 2 - Continue by clicking on the “Default Apps”.     

Step 3 - Now choose the “Wave Browser” by scrolling down.

Step 4 - Now navigate and find all those apps that have Wave Browser as the Default browser. Then change the default browser to any other preferred browsing application.

By Uninstalling the Redundant and Suspicious Extensions     

On your internet browser click on the top right icon of the extension followed by clicking on the three dots shown against the relevant extension and then clicking on “Remove from Chrome”.

By Extinguishing the Suspicious DNS Servers

Step 1 - Open the Start Menu followed by searching ncpa.cpl and clicking on the first option thereafter.

Step 2 - Now right-click on the Network icon followed by clicking on Properties.

Step 3 - Give a double click on the Internet Protocol Version 4 option.

Step 4 - Make sure that the option “Obtain IP Address Automatically” is chosen.

Step 5 - Now click on “Advanced” followed by checking the DNS section for any entry. 

Step 6 - If you find any entry in the DNS section then remove it by clicking on the “Remove” button along with clicking on OK.
