Restore Chrome Browsing History that Disappeared:

Like every other web browser, Google Chrome also keeps a log of the browser history of the user. This will allow you to revisit the pages that users visited earlier but forgot their names.

A lot of users have mentioned that their Chrome browsing history has disappeared from their computers. The others mentioned that it is not displaying anything the way it is supposed to.

Why can't I See my Browsing History?

If you don't know why your Chrome history disappeared, check the settings of your browser. Chrome keeps the website in the history for 90 days. Hence, you will not be able to find any records older than that. If you wish to extend the retention time of the history, you can use the extension named History Trends Unlimited.

This will allow you to keep all the history locally. If you find that it has disappeared completely, then you must remove the app data folder from your Chrome browser. There is a chance that you have set your browser to clear the site data when you close the tabs.

How can I Get the History Back in Google Chrome?

1) Check the History of my Google Activity

Step 1: Go to the My Activity page of Google.

Step 2: Log in to your Google Account, which is associated with your browser.

Step 3: Once you log in, you will be able to see your past browsing history on the activity page of Google.

Step 4: You can browse through months and days. Also, check the pages you visited recently.

Step 5: Sadly, you will not be able to restore the history to Google Chrome. You can delete browsing history by clicking on Options. After that, select Delete.

2) Restore the Old Version of Chrome Folder

Step 1: Please ensure that your Google Chrome browser is closed. After that, launch File Explorer.

Step 2: After that, go to the location

C:\Users\Your username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome

Step 3: Now, go to the Chrome folder and then right-click on the folder of user data. After that, select Restore Previous Version. Now, the User Data Properties window will open up.

Step 4: Choose the folder of user data that you wish to restore. After that, select the Restore button.

Step 5: Then, the browsing history of Chrome and other data of Chrome will be restored. You can easily access it by selecting Ctrl+H in the Chrome browser when it is running.

3) See Chrome History Using DNS Cache

Step 1: Go to the Windows search tab and then select Run as administrator from the results. After that, launch Command Prompt with full privileges.

Step 2: Go to the command prompt and then enter the command ipconfig/displaydns.

Step 3: Now, the command is going to show all DNS records.

4) Reinstall your Google Chrome Browser

Step 1: Press your Windows key and R key to launch Run.

Step 2: Go to Control and then select OK to launch Control Panel.

Step 3: After that, select Programs and then choose Programs and Features.

Step 4: Select Google Chrome and then choose the Uninstall option.

Step 5: Now, you must ensure that delete your browsing data option is unchecked.

Step 6: Select Uninstall to proceed.

Step 7: Then, you must go to the download page of Google Chrome and then install your browser.

Step 8: Once the installation is complete, visit the "History" page and check whether you can see browsing history or not.

Step 9: Select the profile icon given at the upper-right corner and then click on the option of Turn on sync.
