Force Quit Safari Browser on Mac Computer:

Apple Safari browser can sometimes become unresponsive if you don't have enough resources. This thing happens on both Windows as well as Mac computers. If the browser gets stuck or frozen on your screen, then your work will get impacted because of that.

In such a case, you need to force quit your browser and then open it again. If you don't know how to force quit your Safari browser, then take a look at the different methods mentioned below.

Different Ways to Force Quit the Safari Browser

Here, we are going to mention 4 different methods that can help you learn how to force quit Safari browser on a Mac computer.  Let's read these methods one by one. You can use these methods to close the Safari browser or any other app running on Mac.

Quit from Apple Menu

You can force quit your Safari browser by going to the Apple menu. You can do this when your browser stops responding. You can just close the running process by force quitting the browser from the Apple menu.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to quit the Safari browser from the Apple menu.

Step 1: Select the Safari browser app in an active state.

Step 2: Now, go to the Apple icon to open the menu.

Step 3: After that, select the Force Quit Safari option from the list.

This will force quit the Safari app forcefully. You can also right-click on the app in the dock and then choose the Force Quit option.

Quit by Going to the Force Quit Window

This menu will help you force quit the browser when you are not able to access the Apple menu for some reason. This window will list non-responding and running apps in the background apps.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to quit Safari by going to the Force Quit app window.

Step 1: Press the command+Option+Esc keys simultaneously.

Step 2: After that, the Force Quit App window will open up.

Step 3: Then, select and highlight the app that you want to force quit.

Step 4: Now, select the Force Quit command button.

Now, the app will stop forcefully when you select Confirm once again. After that, you can continue working on your Mac. You can reopen your Safari browser and start using the app again. You can also close the Safari browser running in the background by using the Force Quit feature.

Force Quit Safari Browser from Activity Monitor

This activity monitor is the same as the task manager in Windows. You can monitor the resource usage of your Mac and force quit the app that is not responding.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to force quit the Safari browser from the activity monitor.

Step 1: Press the Space and Command keys simultaneously to launch the spotlight search.

Step 2: Enter Activity in the spotlight search area.

Step 3: Select Activity Monitor from the results.

Step 4: Choose the Safari browser app from the Activity Monitor list.

Step 5: Select the close mark by going to the upper-left corner of the app to close the Safari app forcefully

So, now close a non-response Safari app from the activity monitor. You can now select the app that you wish to close.

Force Restart your Mac Computer

In case nothing is working or responding, then that means your system is totally broken. If that is the case, then you won't be able to use the above methods. In such a case, you need to close all the apps and restart Mac.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to quit apps and reboot your Mac computer.

Step 1: Press the Control, Command, and MediaEject key. Hold these keys on your keyboard panel.

Step 2: Turn off Mac and then turn it on.

Step 3: Now, you will be able to log into our computer without running the app.

Please keep in mind that this will close all the apps without getting a prompt to save the open documents or unsaved files. In case you have any documents, then you must save them before doing a force restart. You can hold down the Power key and the Control key to turn off your Mac and then start your Mac normally.
