How to Fix Dish Remote Not Working Problem?

1) Replace the Batteries 

Your remote won't respond to the buttons you press if the batteries aren't working. Therefore, if the batteries are weak, then you must get them replaced as soon as possible. Take off the battery cover of your remote and make sure that the batteries are inserted in perfect alignment.

If they are in the right alignment, then you must replace them with new batteries. It is recommended not to use rechargeable batteries as they don't last long. They lose their capacity after some charge cycles. 

2) Function Mode Key 

A lot of Dsh remotes are universal. It means that you can control your set-top box, AUX, and TV with just one remote. You can switch between the devices using your function mode keys given at the side of your remote that has buttons labeled for input.

In case the mode is not on the TV currently, it won't respond to the TV, It is only going to respond to the device to which you have set your remote. 

Press the button of the TV on the side of your remote and begin controlling your TV. After that, use your remote like normal and check if the issue is resolved. Try to press the key some more times in case it didn't work the first time. 

3) Pair Your Remote

There is a chance that this problem is occurring because your remote is not paired to your TV. Therefore, to fix this problem, you are required to repair your remote to the device. A lot of remotes pair automatically without entering a code. In case your remote requires a code for pairing, then you need to find a user manual for your device. If you wish to pair your Dish remote to the receiver. 

  • Press the button of System info on your receiver. 
  • After that, press the SAT key on your remote. 
  • Then, you need to press the cancel or back key.

  • Press the button of System Info on your receiver. 
  • Press the SAT key.
  • After that, press Record. 
  • Now, close the system info page by clicking on Done. 
  • Once you program your receiver to the remote, try to use it to control your TV. 

4) Restart the Receiver

In case reprogramming the remote doesn't help you resolve your issue, then try to restart your Dish receiver. After that, check your remote again.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to restart your receiver. 

  • Turn off your Dish receiver. 
  • Disconnect it from the wall. 
  • After that, you must wait for at least 60 seconds. 
  • Reconnect the receiver and turn it on.

5) Reset Your Receiver

  • Press the Menu key two times in a row or you can press the Home key three times in a row. 
  • Go to Receiver and then select Tools. 
  • Choose the option of Reset to Factory Defaults and then choose the option of Reset receiver to factory defaults. 
  • Confirm the prompt that is going to appear in from of you on the screen. 
  • After that, wait for your receiver to restart.

6) Get in Touch with the DISH Team
