Change your Default Browser in Windows 10

Do you want to change your default browser in Windows 10 and set it to a different one? Whenever you buy a brand new PC with the OS preloaded or when you upgrade your existing OS to Windows 10, you will notice that Microsoft Edge is the default browser. This default web browser is the one that opens as you click on a link in your email, in the Windows search box, or while using the other apps such as your instant messenger. Therefore, it's very important to change your default browser in Windows 10 and set it to what is convenient.

You can change your default browser in Windows 10 to any other available browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or any other third- party browser. Though the process is not as easy as it was in Windows 7 and 8 where you could just click a button in the new browser. So, here is how to change your default browser in Windows 10.

What do you mean by default browser?

Generally, the default browser is the application that gets automatically launched as the user clicks a link in a Web document. Sometimes, the application also opens a Web link, such as when navigating to its home page. There are several browsers available for Internet users to choose from and each of them can be installed side by side with other browsers. It is recommended to use the Chrome browser with your computer.

Steps to change your default browser in Windows 10

Step 1: Firstly, launch and go to the Settings of your system. To reach Settings, you can go there from the Start menu.

Step 2: Now, select the System tab.

Step 3: Here, click on the Default apps in the left pane of the window.

Step 4: Next, click on the Microsoft Edge under the "Web browser" heading. If you find a different default browser, you'll see the program's icon under "Web browser" instead.

Step 5: Choose the new web browser (ex: Chrome) in the menu that pops up on your screen.

You will notice that your new selection is now listed under the "Web browser." If you wish to change the default browsers again, then simply return to these steps again.

By following all these above steps, you can easily change your default browser in Windows 10 system.
