Is YouTube not opening a little floating window so your Android phone, iPhone, or iPad can continue playing your video? Your device or the YouTube app turns off picture-in-picture mode. Along with a few other solutions, we'll walk you through how to activate the feature.
Other Possible Causes of YouTube's PiP Mode not Working Include:
Step 1: Using the wrong account in the app.
Step 2: Having gestures enabled on your phone.
Step 3: A corrupted cache of the YouTube app.
Step 4: Turn on YouTube and Your Phone's Picture-in-Picture Mode.
The picture-in-picture feature may be turned off in the YouTube app or the phone's settings if you don't see a floating window after minimising YouTube. All your favourite YouTube videos will be available to you in the background if you enable the feature in both locations.
Step 1: On your Android phone, open Settings.
Step 2: In Settings, choose Apps > App Management.
Step 3: Select YouTube from the list of apps.
Step 4: Choose "Picture in Picture."
Step 5: Slide the Picture-in-Picture toggle.
Step 1: On your Apple device, navigate to Settings.
Step 2: To view picture-in-picture, select General.
Step 3: Activate Start PiP Autonomously.
Step 4: Open the YouTube app and select PiP Mode.
Step 5: Turn on picture-in-picture mode in the YouTube app after you've enabled it on your phone.
Step 6: Open YouTube on your mobile device.
Step 7: Choose your profile's icon in the top-right corner.
Step 8: From the menu, select Settings.
Step 9: On the screen that follows, select General.
Step 10: Activate picture-in-picture mode.
Videos cannot play in the background if you are not in the United States; you must have a YouTube Premium subscription. If you have already purchased a subscription, use the Google account associated with that YouTube subscription.
Here's how to get that verified:
Step 1: On your phone, launch YouTube.
Step 2: In the upper-right corner, select the profile icon.
Step 3: Make sure the Google account that appears is the one you used to purchase a YouTube Premium subscription. If that isn't the case, tap the account to switch to a different Google account.
Step 4: To utilise the PiP feature, open YouTube, select a video and then hit the Home button.
If the YouTube picture-in-picture option is still unavailable, you may be in an area or nation where it's not supported. To fix the problem in this instance, switch your current location within the YouTube app.
Step 1: Get YouTube open on your mobile device.
Step 2: In the upper-right corner, select your profile icon.
Step 3: Navigate to Settings > General > Place.
Step 4: From the list, choose a nation that supports PiP, such as the US.
It isn't enjoyable when your phone's background YouTube feature abruptly stops functioning if you're used to it. Fortunately, you can fix the problem and carry on with your background play sessions differently.
After that, you can hit the Home button to keep watching your videos on YouTube in a tiny floating window.
