Frequent Avast Antivirus Issues in Windows 10

Avast is one of the popular and user-friendly antivirus programs out there for users. Unfortunately, users have to face Avast Antivirus issues in Windows 10. So, for all possible Avast problems in Windows 10, we have a solution guide for you.

What are the Possible Avast Problems with Windows 10?

Below listed and discussed are some of the Avast problems with windows 10 along with their fixes.

1. Windows 10 Action Center Unable to Recognize Avast

One of the frequent Avast Antivirus issues in Windows 10 is when the Action Center doesn’t recognize Avast. In such a case, you will get pop-up messages in the down right side of your screen saying “Windows Defender and Avast Antivirus are both turned off,’ or ‘Windows did not find an antivirus program“.

Fortunately, You can Follow the Easy Steps Below as Its Solution.

  • Firstly, disable Avast Antivirus and then re-enable it to force Windows 10 to recognize it:
  • Now, right-click on the Avast icon in the taskbar.
  • Visit Shields Control and select Disable for 10 minutes.

  • Enable it again the same way and select the Enable all Shields option.

This helps Windows 10 in recognizing Avast, and the above-mentioned messages won't come anymore. If the issue still persists, then here are more options to try.

  • Right-click on the Start Menu and select Command Prompt (as Admin).
  • Type winmgmt /verifyrepository and Enter in the Command Prompt .

  • If it shows that ‘WMI repository is consistent -no problems detected,’ type ‘winmgmt/resetrepository’ and Enter.
  • If it shows ‘WMI repository is inconsistent -problems detected,’ type ‘winmgmt /salvagerepository’ and then Enter.
  • If it shows ‘WMI repository has been salvaged – WMI repository has been successfully rebuilt,’ then jump to the last step.
  • Reset your computer lastly.

2. Avast Creates Black Screen in Windows 10

The other Avast issue with windows 10 is during the installation phase that causes a black screen. Though it's not a common issue, you can try the following solution:

  • Select the Avast icon from the taskbar and launch the Avast user interface
  • Under the Settings tab, navigate to the General section.

  • Jump to Exclusions options, then click add and add the following address to exclusions:
  • C:WindowsExplorer.exe,’
  • and ‘C:WindowsImmersiveControlPanelSystemSettings.exe

  • Finally, restart your computer.

3. Process Trust Error During Installation

Another error message occurs while you’re trying to install Avast on Windows 10. You get the message as ‘Process Trust’ fatal error pop-up message saying ‘Avast doesn’t trust Avast Installer’. This straightaway means that you cannot install Avast on your computer.

The error possibly occurs due to a conflict between Avast and your current antivirus program. So, you just need to disable your current antivirus (mostly, Windows Defender) and try to install Avast again. This error basically reminds you of having two antivirus programs installed on your computer which is not a good thing.

4. Avast Antivirus Unable to Update

Sometimes, Avast fails to update its virus definitions. This can be considered quite a major issue as you are leaving your computer vulnerable to potential threats.

If you are unable to install the latest Avast updates, follow the steps below:

  • Firstly, update your OS as running outdated Windows versions may prevent other apps and programs from working properly. Navigate Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Updates >> Check for Updates.

  • You can temporarily disable your firewall/ VPN which might prevent you from installing the latest software updates on your machine. Navigate to Start >> Firewall >> Windows Firewall >> Turn Windows Firewall on and off

  • Another way is to clean boot your computer. This solution helps to start Windows 10 using a minimal set of programs and drivers as some software conflict might block Avast updates.

For this, follow the steps below:

Step 1. Enter System Configuration in the search box and click Enter.

Step 2. Under the Services tab, select the Hide all Microsoft services check box and click Disable all
option.

Step 3. Under the Startup tab, click on Open Task Manager.

Step 4. In the Startup tab of Task Manager, select all items and click Disable. Disable startup programs. Exit from Task Manager.

Step 5. From the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click on OK.

Step 6. Lastly, restart your computer and try to update Avast software.

5. Avast Unable to Start

Certain times, your Avast fails to load on your computer. So you can better try to repair that software.

Simply go to Start >> Control Panel >> Programs >> Uninstall a Program >>  Select Avast> Select Repair.

As the process completes, you can restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

Hopefully, you are able to resolve Avast Antivirus issues in Windows 10 with the help of this simple guide.
