Whenever you connect your laptop to the power outlet, you see a small LED light that confirms that your battery is working perfectly. If you don't see that light on your laptop, then that means there's something wrong with your laptop.
This may happen because of a battery issue but instead of jumping to the conclusion, you must consider all possible causes leading to this problem. This issue can also arise because of software malfunction and power cord issues. Sometimes the problem occurs because the power cord is not properly connected.
Below, you will read various methods that can help you troubleshoot this problem.
Sometimes people end up making the mistake of connecting the charger to the wrong port. The data transfer port looks like the charging port. So, instead of connecting the charger to the charging port, people connect it to the data transfer port.
Therefore, you must check the charger connectivity before you jump to any conclusion.
If your laptop has a removable battery, then you must carry out the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Unscrew the screws and bolts and then remove the battery.
Step 2: Press and hold the power button for at least 10-15 seconds.
Step 3: Connect the charger and then turn on your laptop.
In case your laptop powers on without any issue, then that means your charger is working fine but the battery is actually the cause of your problem. To check whether this is the cause or not, you can try booting up your laptop again.
Outdated drivers can also lead to the problem, Therefore, you must update the driver to get rid of your problem.
Below are the steps that you need to follow to update the drivers of your Windows 10 battery.
Step 1: Go to the Start menu and then right-click on it. After that, go to the Quick Access menu and then select Device Manager.
Step 2: Then, go to the Batteries section. Go to the drop-down menu and then right-click on Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
Step 3: Now, select the option of Update Driver from the new selection window.
Now, Windows will ask you "How to search for the drivers?". There, you need to select the let Windows search automatically option. You can also browse your computer manually for the correct driver. Once you are done updating your driver, restart your PC and try to charge again.
When batteries give power to your laptop, they tend to generate heat, which leads to overheating problems. Increasing battery temperature may cause your sensor to misfire. This may communicate to the computer that the battery is either missing or fully charged.
In case your laptop feels like a furnace when it is connected, then keep it in a cool place and open surface and allow your PC to cool down.
